Better Business File Organization Starts With Your Desktop

“I know it’s on my desktop somewhere.”

Three versions of the same proposal. Screenshots from last year. A folder called “New Folder” that nobody wants to open. This is a lighthearted reminder to take a closer look at how your team organizes the files they use every day. Start with one project. Give its files a clearly named folder, use consistent filenames, and make the current version easy to identify. Before deleting anything, check whether it needs to be retained or someone else still uses it. For documents the team shares, agree on a shared location instead of keeping the only working copy on one employee’s desktop. Ask your IT team which folders are actually backed up, too. Easy to find doesn’t always mean protected.
